When disaster struck, we responded.

This year, Counselling Alberta also responded swiftly to the crisis caused by the Jasper wildfires. As part of the provincial hazard response and the Calgary Emergency Wellness Response Team (EWRT) we provided immediate mental health support at the Calgary reception centre for evacuees of the Jasper Wildfire. The reception centre was open for 43 days, assisting approximately 1,800 Jasper evacuees.

In addition to this support, we created a dedicated webpage with resources and information on how to cope with the stress and emotional toll of the fires. This initiative demonstrated our commitment to being there for Albertans in times of urgent need, ensuring they had access to essential mental health resources and counselling support.

Counselling Alberta ensures that Albertans in all corners of the province receive the mental health care they need, when they need it.
